{forever grateful}

I interrupt my time with my husband to send you a thank you.

Part of me wishes every military wife, or even wives whose husbands travel a lot for work, had a support system like I do with blogging. Writing has always been an outlet for me; I’ve had this particular blog for more than five years, and I’ve kept a journal online and on paper for years before that.

Even though it was a short deployment, I’m so incredibly happy it’s over and I want to thank each and every one of you for your help, support, and words of encouragement over the past several months.

What we do is not easy, especially for a newlywed in a new city, but you guys have made this deployment a lot more tollerable and have actually made it an easy process. Honestly, I never thought “easy and deployment” would ever be in the same sentence together.

I saw this poem on Yummy Mommy’s blog and did a little copy and paste magic so I could share it with you here.

Sisters of the Heart
by Sylvia

The neighbors seem awkward
Old friends slip away
Even the family
Doesn’t know what to say

Blue Star in the window
Yellow ribbon ’round the tree
This is the part
That I let the world see

They don’t know about
The nights I don’t sleep
Or the times that I
Inexplicably weep

But there is a place
That I can always go
No need to explain
They already know

I am safe here
They’ve got my back
These women whose hearts
Are also in Iraq
Kuwait and Afghanistan

We’re all miles apart
But distance doesn’t matter
To sisters of the heart
My husband and I are going out of town for a few days, but hopefully when I return I’ll have some Homecoming pictures to share with you all.
And again, THANK YOU for everything.  I hope I can be as supportive to you as you have been to me.
