Need You Now

Our deployment may be over, but every time I hear this particular song on the radio it takes me back to those painfully lonely nights…those nights where you long to have him near you.

I loved “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum the very first time I heard it, but when I heard their acoustic version, full of raw emotional lyrics, it struck an even deeper nerve.

This was my deployment song, but I think anyone who is missing someone can appreciate it. It’s the kind of song that you have to blast on your radio and sing at the top of your longs. If you get a chance to hear this acoustic version on the radio—the sound is better than the clip below—consider yourself lucky.

Did/do you have a particular deployment song or a song you listen to when you’re missing someone?

  1. I love the song too but isn't it overkill on the radio? I find that with a lot of songs I love pre-radio debut.

  2. Whenever I hear Taking You Home I think of my dad (who I lost in 2004 and miss every day) because he said the song reminded him of me, since they adopted me. Sometimes it makes me feel worse, but sometimes it's totally better.

  3. When Eric and I were doing the long distance thing 3 Doors Down's "Here Without You" and "When I'm Gone" were songs I listened to. A lot. Not on purpose, but they always seemed to be on and they reminded me of Eric and made me sad.
