Do These Shoes Make Me Look Fat?
We were on the way out the door this weekend when I asked my husband to “wait a second” as I quickly ran back to our closet.
I was having a very bloated and blah day, and my mission was to find a pair of jeans that didn’t make me feel and look fat.
Yeah, I went there; I became the girl who thinks jeans made her look fat. But then something else happened. Once I found a new pair of jeans I also had to change shoes, because it was starting to rain outside and flip flops wouldn’t cut it. I slipped into my pair of Chucks and was checking out my latest outfit in the mirror when my husband came in and asked what was up. Clearly my “just a second” turned into “several minutes.”
I told him—in a completely serious tone, “These shoes make me look fat.”

Like I said, I was completely and utterly serious. My adorable pink Converse shoes that I once donned during my wedding now make me look fat!
Instead of laughing at me or agreeing with me, my husband came over, enveloped me in a big hug and said nothing made me look fat, that I always look great. So while I blushed and simultaneously rolled my eyes, I changed three more times and finally settled on my original outfit, complete with flip flops.
But really, I’m not the only woman who has days when even shoes make us think we look fat, right?
Such a cute post, and no you are not the only one! 🙂
No, you're not the only one. Because I've seen it happen, if your jeans hit you a certain way and the tops of your shoes fit a certain way then…BAM! Fat ankles. It happens.
I love this post. I think it's safe to say, we've all been there!!
LOL!!!! This is sooooo all of us! 🙂 We really all do have days like that—thanks for sharing!
Yep, happens to everyone! I once just stayed home when I didn't feel comfortable in my clothes. Ugh!
I hate days like that! Love this post!
I TOTALLY know how you feel!
Oh, you are not alone. Lots of shoes make me look fat.
I feel like I look much better in heels than my much more comfy ballet slippers. I always choose comfort anyway 🙂
hehehe, for some reason I always feel that way myself after wearing sandals all summer and then switching to sneakers! I feel clunky until I get used to wearing winter shoes again.
Hahaha- my husband is never as nice- he tells me to grow up and walks away. I only do it once in a blue moon and NO- you're clearly not the only one! Some shoes are just clunky and make me feel like I have kankles- when my ankles are really nice, even if I am a bigger gal. Some shoes I just refuse to wear and others I wake up one day and realize they make my legs look funny.
Yup, been there. But I have to say, way cute Chucks!
I heart you and your chucks, and your Kenny is just too cute.
Those shoes are too cute!
Oh man, I've had this discussion with SoldierMan SO many times! I hate that all tennis shoes or athletic shoes are basically white – white expands and makes me feel like I have these huge monster feet. He says black shoes (tennis shoes) look dumb, and I guess they do, but they don't make me feel like my feet look 2 sizes larger!
Girl, I have days when necklaces make me look fat! And what a sweet husband you have.
Such a cute post. And I love the pics! 🙂
I love those shots of you guys in your wedding dress and cute pink converse!! 🙂
Your husband sounds like a great guy and you sound just like me! When I first moved from LA to Seattle I wore my flip flops in ALL seasons. I think I was in denial but either way, I refused to take them off.
I am new here via Around the World Saturdays at Amanda & Don. I can't wait to read more of your posts! 😀
