BlogHerFood Recap

I’ve already mentioned this a time or two, but this weekend I mixed and mingled with food bloggers from across the country at the BlogHerFood conference in Atlanta. Here’s what went down in a nutshell: We ate, we talked, we ate some more, we got inspired, we talked about food, we talked about taking pictures of food, we talked about writing about food, we ate some more, we danced, we went into a little food coma…all in all, it was a pretty fantabulous weekend.

I’m still completely inspired with everything I learned and heard over the weekend. I have several ideas in store for Jessica Lynn Writes (did you notice the name change?!) and plan on making some gradual changes to my blog—mostly in my writing, photography, and focus.

I learned about finding my “visual voice” and ways to improve my writing, so now I just need to start implementing those new techniques. As Aran from Cannelle Vanille said, “It’s not always about the camera you have, it’s what you do with it.” Well, I’m going back to the basics and I’m going to learn about my voice. I haven’t been this excited about learning and practicing in a really long time.

I really wish I took more pictures while I was there, but I was too busy trying to type down every word the speakers said so I could refer to it later. So much inspiration. I may do a post with just great quotes from the sessions I attended to get you guys pumped along with me!

You know those fab bloggers I met? Here’s their info, so you can follow them, too!

Natalie did the leg work for matching names to faces to blogs, so credit goes to her! (back row, L to R: Jaclyn of Food Plus Words, Jessica of The Novice Chef, Mandy of Home with Mandy, Jim of Comfort in Crumbs, ME(!) of Jessica Lynn Writes, Natalie of Oven Love, and Erin of Erin’s Food Files. front row: Tina of My Life as a Mrs., Lindsay of Love and Olive Oil, Julie of The Little Kitchen) Go visit their blogs!!

I also met:

Natalie, of course (I needed a fourth photo!), Ivan from Eat the Love; Katie of She Likes Ruffles, He Likes Truffles, Lorie from RecipeGirl, not pictured: Elise from Puma Life (how did we not take a picture, Elise?!), and so many more!

I just love meeting up with my online friends! Have you met any bloggers in real life?!

I have so much more to say about the weekend, but I’ll save it for another post. In the mean time, head over to Oven Love’s latest post, because Natalie’s giving away some pretty great goodies from our swag bag! And if you don’t win her giveaway, fear not: when I get back into town I plan on giving y’all some fun stuff from my bag. There’s no way I can eat all the chocolate I brought home…lucky you 🙂

  1. I noticed your name change this morning! I was writing my recap post and went to link your blog when I went "wait a second…" Anyhow, I'm sad we didn't get a photo, I don't know how that didn't happen either. I'm really glad I got the chance to meet you though! And I completely agree about being so excited to learn and experiment with the blog and my cooking too, isn't that just such a great feeling?!
