Together at Last: Exchanging Rings

This post is part of my wedding recap series. Missed something and want to catch up? Click here for links to past “Together at Last” posts.

Pastor Moore: “You joined your hands together as you repeated your vows to both one another and before God. The ring is from a very ancient time and an outward symbol of something that happens deep within our hearts. These rings—oh, they’re beautiful rings—are going to be very precious to you when you put them on your fingers today.

But I’m going to ask you, as the years go by, to remember in part about what I have to say about things rings, and hope they’ll become even more precious to you as time goes by.”

I want you to notice, first of all, the inside of the ring. It’s a perfect circle; it has no ending. I so charge you both, before God, to give yourselves to one another, in love, in such a way that this unit will not have an Earthly ending. But also if you’ll notice, that part of the beauty of this ring is the fact that it’s made with such an untarnishable material. I so charge charge you both, before God, to give yourselves to one another, in love in such a way that this unit may be presented at the throne of god without spot or blemish.”

Kenny, place this ring on Jessica’s finger saying:
Kenny: “With this ring, I thee wed.”
Me: “With this ring, I thee wed.”
Pastor Moore: “You’ve repeated your vows. You’ve exchanged these tokens of your love for one another. Now, I want to ask for God’s blessings upon this unit.”

“Our heavenly father, I thank you that I can hold my hands with of this lovely couple. But I thank you most of all that it is by grace that you hold them in the palm of your hand. I pray, Father, for blessings upon their union and for all that is good will come to them over the years that they will be alive together. And Father, I pray that all they receive they will give You glory for, because You are the author and the finisher of all that we do. This I pray to you, Lord, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

Up next…We become husband and wife!

hey, I'm Jess!
I'm an Air Force wife and mom with three kids currently living in Germany. I'm always planning our next trip and feeding my hungry family with easy meals. If I'm not doing one of those two things, you'll probably find me drinking a second cup of coffee, reading a book, or taking a nap.

I'm so happy you're here!
