Sunday Snapshots and Other Thoughts
I’ve been in a blog funk lately. Even though I have plenty to say, and several posts started, I just can’t bring myself to actually get on here and write. The thought of posting photos and writing started becoming a chore, and that’s where I draw the line. I do this for fun, so I’m stepping back and instead of feeling guilty for not posting, I’m going to share things when I feel inspired.
A friend of mine actually snapped me back into reality the other day and made me realize I need to actively start taking advantage of being out here. So now I’m doing just that. I’m getting involved with organizations on base, going to the gym on a regular basis, taking classes on things that interest me, going on daily walks with Bella around our town, and I’m working on a few crafts to start turning this house more into our home.
I’m also working on following my dream. I’ve always wanted to be a travel writer, and I don’t have any valid excuses for why I’m not pursuing that avenue yet. I’m living in Italy, for crying out loud! So if things are a little quiet around here, it’s hopefully because I’m being a little more social and “getting out there.” I already have two possibilities to start writing again, and I can’t tell you how excited that makes me.
When I do get back into the swing of things I want share more about everyday life in Italy. Sure, I’ll still post our trips (I have two in mind that have been on the back-burner for too long), but I want to show you all the things I was curious about before we came out here (shopping, dining, driving, etc.). Hopefully I’ll get my act in gear and start moving in that direction soon.
In the meantime, here are some photos taking up space on my iPhone. I like posting Sunday Snapshots since it’s a way for my family and friends who aren’t on FB, Twitter, or Instagram, to see little snippets of what we’re up to. I’ll try keeping this up, but no promises (see above!).

The view we have driving home every day. On a clear day it’s simply gorgeous. |

Bella’s favorite treat: cleaning out the peanut butter jar. She also had her first Italian grooming experience. She came home smelling delightful 🙂 |

We drove to Verona one weekend. Blog post about our day trip coming soon(ish)… |

Gelato in January? Don’t mind if I do! They wrap it up for you so you can take it home. |

Random pics: New boots I bought with my Christmas money from Kenny’s grandparents! A lovely piece of snail mail from The Young Retiree (need to send you one back ASAP). We’ve been laughing our faces off by catching up on “Friends” (I forgot how much I love that show). Yesterday we took down our ornaments…sad face.
‘Till next time…Ciao 🙂

I love you, Jess. Keep exploring the beauty of your new situation…and let's talk about how I can get out there in the most economical way possible (that is, if you're up for it this fall).
Good luck with the travel writing, I know you'll be awesome at it. 🙂
You are such a great writer. I'm sure you will be great with the whole travel writing thing.
I remember when I studied abroad in The Netherlands. I was determined to never go to McD's, but one day I did and it was fabulous. McDonalds was never that good before and it has never been that good since. Twelve years later and I still remember it!
Glad to see you getting off line and into the community there in Aviano!
I meant to ask you how your dog looked after you took her to the groomer, so I am glad to hear she at least smelled good! Hopefully you were pleased with her. And I love that the gelato place there in Maniago center is open now since the one in Aviano is closed. We just went to that same one on Saturday night and I had some awesome flavor I have never tried, next time I will remember the name and share with you!
Good luck with getting out there, you are a great writer and I know you would be amazing at writing about traveling!
That gelato looks amazing and I think you would be an awesome travel writer. Also, I have decided to totally copy your Five for Fridays idea starting in February. It's so great and I can't wait!
sure you are a good travel writer. I love gelato every time of the day in every season. I love the mountain you can see (not far from my place). hugs
