Our Italian Home: Upstairs

Last week I shared the downstairs section of our house, and today I’m here with the upstairs portion! 

When you first go up the flight of stairs you’re greeted with a large, empty space. I had no idea what to do with this area, so I threw down a rug and left it like that for awhile. I’d literally go in there, stand and stare at the blank walls, get disgruntled and walk away. See that map art down there? It should go up on the wall, but I’m just not feeling it. I don’t think I’ll do anything with that wall. The opposite wall is a different story, and I’ll share that with you later this week 🙂

The office looks like a giant, cluttered mess, but that’s the cleanest it’s going to get. It works for us and while I wish we had more things on the walls or decorated it more, it’ll work for our time here. 

Up next is the master bedroom. The office and master bedroom are actually the same size, but we choose this room for ours, because there are two heaters and two windows. I’d like to get some art for over the bed, but I’m having a hard time getting the piece I want—a landscape of Albuquerque, but the artist won’t email me back (grumble). We may just have to wait until we’re back in the states. 

This is a sneak peek of that other wall I told you about. I’m so excited about it that I think it deserves its own post 🙂

Catty-corner to our room is the second bathroom. A lot of homes here only had one bathroom, so we LOVE having one on the second floor. It’s a fairly large room, but lacks storage. We got creative and one of our bookcases is doubling as shelves. 

The bathroom has one of the best views—go figure.

The house has four “bedrooms,” but one of them was so tiny we decided to put all the wardrobes in there and turn it into a closet. It’s a mess and I’m not apologizing for it, because I have no desire to clean it up. 

And last, but not least, here’s the guest room. It’s super small and simple, but comfy. It also comes with another lovely view!

Remember this post from ages ago? I wanted to get them printed on canvas, but never got around to it. I did frame them, though (sorry about the reflection on the glass)! I need to swap out the Eiffel Tower with another picture from London…hopefully I’ll snap a decent picture when we visit the city this weekend 🙂

So that’s our home here in Italia!
