Spilling the Baby Beans: Telling my Parents

I realize this post is about 15 weeks overdue, but doing things “better late than never” is basically how this blog rolls. We found out about Pickles on a Saturday and by Sunday I couldn’t keep the secret in any longer and had to tell my parents the good news.

We called them up on Sunday afternoon, telling them we had a new video chat feature we wanted to test out. The new feature—unbeknownst to them—was that I was recording our entire conversation. I had no idea what their reactions would be, but I knew I wanted to be able to watch it again later.

I’m SO glad I recorded it, because their reaction (my mom’s reaction, specifically) is PRICELESS. I laugh a lot and cry a little every time I see it, which is actually a couple times a week—it’s that good. But don’t take my work for it, watch for yourself!

Pretty fantastic, right?!

  1. O that was priceless and totally made me teary eyed!

Also it was funny because the start of it sounded like every Skype convo I have with my family with they hey's and what not!

  2. oh my gosh!!! that so made my laugh and tear up!!! sooo sweet! love your dad's reaction "we'll babysit!" reminds me of my papi 🙂 Thanks for posting, loved that!

  3. Your mom's reaction is everything! LOL. Too cute. What an awesome moment to have recorded. I love the "Is it positive".

  4. What a wonderful thing to have down the road! And what a blessing technology is for those of us going through these major milestones far away from our families. I say a grateful prayer every time my now three year old son face times or skypes with my parents. I love that despite having never lived in physical proximity to them, he knows their faces and voices and looks forward to telling them things and asks to call them.

  5. What a fantastic idea! (To tape the reaction.)I'll have to keep that in mind for the next go-round.

I love your mom, she's just the cutest!

  6. I loved it the first time I saw it, and I still love it! Your mom's reaction makes me all teary-eyed. We still haven't figured out video-chatting in our families, but I'm glad you did.

  7. I LOVE it! Your mom's reaction is great and it made me teary eyed:) It's really hard to keep a great secret like that!

Thanks for linking up at Flashback Friday.
