After the Rain

I feel like I’ve been stuck writing about two things lately: the deployment and the baby. Those are clearly two pretty ginormous things going on in my life right now, but I wanted to let you know that there’s life outside those two topics. Kind of.

This week we’ve had several days of steady cold rain. One day we even had huge snowflakes at our house, but nothing stuck to the ground here. Where they did stick was on the Dolomites (the “pre-Alps”) right behind our house; they got a gorgeous dusting of snow while we got the gloomy rain.

I was driving home today and realized how gorgeous it was outside. The sun was shinning and the sky was incredibly blue—such a drastic contrast to the weather we’ve been having (it’s supposed to rain again all next week, so I’m thrilled we at least had a lovely few hours today). This area is usually really hazy, too, so we cherish days where everything is crisp and clear.

Anyway, I made my usual turn to go home and gasped when I saw the mountains in front of me. I usually try to take a shaky photo while I’m driving (horrible, I know; I always make sure there’s nobody else on the road), but I have a baby to think about now, so this time I pulled over and whipped out my iPhone.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking:
used the app 360 to take this photo
Pretty, right?
I hope the sun is shinning wherever you are today 🙂
(So corny, I know, but just go with it!)

  1. Oh My Goodess!!! That is amazingly beautiful!!! I bet you never get sick of seeing that!! Here in Cali we can see mountains off in the distance with snow caps and I LOVE it, but nothing THAT close!! #jealous

  2. Hey, so random question….I am looking into a premade blog template and was looking at some Cinnamon Girl stuff – do you like what you've worked with?! Would you recommend it?

  3. Wow, that's stunning!! What a beautiful surprise. I hope to live somewhere with something close to a mountain landscape view one day…
