Moving Around the World
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you move?
There’s one important fact you should know about me. Actually, two things: The top two places on my “list of places I’d want to live” are Italy and New Mexico. I had a fascination with Italy long before I met my husband and learned we’d have the opportunity to be stationed there, which means I’m still flabbergasted that I can now say, “I lived in Italy.” It doesn’t seem real. It also doesn’t seem real that I’m writing this from New Mexico, our home away from home for the next week…until we pack up our brand new SUV* and road trip it through Texas to see family, into New Orleans to eat delicious food (and walk around with big drinks in our hands), and on to Alabama, our next temporary home.
Now that I’ve crossed “live in Italy” off my list, I have to figure out a way to move back to New Mexico. There’s supposedly one slot open at the base in Albuquerque for the job my husband does, so maybe one day he’ll be lucky enough to snag it and we can finally move back. In the meantime, it’ll be nice living one plane ride away from family.
- We arrived in America Thursday night and our daughter rocked the three flights. Go Julia!
- When all is said and done we will spend (are you ready for this?) 83 consecutive nights in a hotel.
- *We just bought a BRAND NEW CAR —a 2013 Ford Escape— and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. (As I typed that I said it like Oprah would say it; it makes getting a new car even that much more exciting.)
- I
didn’t have the Internet on my phone for THREE days! But yesterday I
finally upgraded my old, slow-poke iPhone, to the new fancy schmancy
iPhone5. Get ready for an Instagram drop soon. - Want to buy my old iPhone? Check it out here!
- I’m shopping till I’m dropping. Seriously. Jet lag didn’t get to me very much, but America is wearing me out; I’m exhausted every night and fall asleep within seconds of my head hitting the pillow.
I have a lot to share with you—per usual—so hang tight while I gather my new bearings and adjust to this magical new land! In the meantime, here are several fab bloggers you must check out right this very minute!
world with our 3 kids and our Westie, Macintosh. We have been stationed
all over: Alabama, Iceland, Japan, and are heading to Italy in Aug
2013! I’m a Certified Photographer, DONA Certified Labor Doula, DODDS
substitute teacher, wife, mother, DIY’er, crafter, etc…just to list a
few. I love crafting and making things, traveling to new
locations, and meeting amazing friends along the way, and of course
posting about all our adventures!

I would move back to Japan. We loved living there and I really miss it, even 5 years after leaving there. We loved the culture, the people, the food, and the experiences. I’m not a fan of big cities but I felt safe in Tokyo and didn’t have any concerns, I was surprised to see Kindergarteners riding the subway by themselves to school, that would never happen in NY! They also take pride in serving others and customer service is top notch, very unlike America. I hope one day we’ll get to live there again!
Hi there! My name is Bree. We are currently
stationed at Aviano Air Base, Italy. I am a recent college grad from
good ole USF in Florida. Go Bulls! After receiving my degree, I decided
to commission into the United States Air Force to join my new hubby! So
now, I blog about our daily lives and travels around Europe, as well as
my process of commissioning into the Air Force and everything in
between!
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you move?
average joe! We got lucky with Italy, but if I could live anywhere in
the world it would be Australia! I love the ocean and everything to do
with it, but I also love to explore land and Australia has it all!
I’m Chantal! I blog over at Scattered Seashells. I’m wife to Brandon,
an Army helicopter pilot, and mom to Penny, an adorable toddler. My blog
is about me, my family, parenting, living a healthy life, being a
crunchy mom, and being an Army spouse
and think it would just be an awesome place to live for awhile.
Can I answer even though my answer is already up there? 😉
I'll say a different place: Norway! Just for kicks.
Welcome home! 🙂
New cars are so exciting! Especially when you sound like Oprah announcing them!
I"m with Laurie, I'd go back to Japan in a heartbeat. It could be either Okinawa or mainland Japan, I don't care. I just absolutely loved everything about it.
Welcome Back Stateside!! Glad to hear Julia was a great traveler on the multiple flights!
If I could pack up and move *anywhere* in the world, I'd have to say somewhere like Brazil!
So happy you're in NM for a little! It must feel incredible 🙂
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to live in Switzerland. Hopefully we can make it happen one day!
