The Georgia House {before photos}
You guys, we are days away from moving back into our house in Georgia. DAYS AWAY! After 82 nights of living in hotels, we are more than ready to pack those suitcases away for good.
We tried selling our Georgia house before we moved to Italy, but with five other homes for sale on our seven-house block, there just weren’t any bites. The economy was horrible back then, so gave up on selling it, found an amazing property manager, and put the house up for rent. It only took a few days before a wonderful family moved in, thank goodness. When we got news that we’d be moving back to Georgia, it was almost a blessing that our house didn’t sell since “find a house” was one thing we wouldn’t have to worry about.
Our renters moved out a few months ago, so when we came back to America our house was ready for us…but we weren’t quite ready to move back in. With a second chance to live in our home, we wanted to make a few changes to spruce up the place a bit. The biggest projects included ditching the carpet and replacing it with (laminate) wood, paint the walls, give our walk-in closet a makeover, and turn the laundry room into a walk-in pantry!
We would’ve done the work ourselves, but I can hardly find time to paint my nails, let alone paint a house, so we hired a wonderful man who’s doing all the work. We’ve been back to see the progress, and all I can say is: WOW!!! It already looks like a completely different place! It’ll take a little while before all of our stuff is in place, but I’ll do a full house tour to show you how we spruced up everything. In the meantime, here are some “before” photos for you:

if you ever can’t find me, I’ll be in that tub. |
Whew! That was a lot of photos. When I do the “after” posts it’ll be by each room/section so it won’t be so overwhelming. I’m seriously so excited to move back in!
Any guesses on what color we’re painting the rooms?
Can't wait to see the after pictures! So glad your almost done with this AL adventure ;p
How exciting for you guys! It is funny though because to me it still seems weird you are back in the US let alone moving into your old house!
I can't wait to see the transformation!
I'm only guessing paint color on Julia's room…and I'm guessing pink, naturally! Moving back so soon!!!
Ok, now I REALLY want to see after pictures!!! And seriously, I bet it feels pretty good to move into a house that's already yours and familiar.
I'm guessing that Julia's room is going to be pink and gray? š As for the rest…no idea, but I'm sure it will be pretty!!!
We seriously need to paint our house. Every room except for the bathrooms and laundry room is PINK. Not a pretty pink, either. I mean, it's not AWFUL, but….it's not the greatest either. Maybe one day we'll get around to it. =P
I can't imagine trying to tackle all of that on your own! I guess the good part about waiting is that maybe the AF will have your furniture all here in time for the big move-in?
I hope you pick some relaxing colors, because after all the GO GO GO in your lives, I'm sure you'll be looking for some down time š
I can't wait to see what you do with it! š
That's awesome that you can move back into your house! We have a house in Missouri. We are never moving back!!!
I loved this house before and I'm going to wish I lived there when you're finished. Loving the walk in pantry!! The "cafe" would make a nice playroom also!
Very exciting! It must be nice to know that you have a place to move into already. Good luck on the fix-ups!
How great that it all worked out!!
Oh my gosh I love remodel and decorating stuff! SQUEEEE! Can't wait to see what you do and what colors you choose- I have no idea!
