A Veterans Day Thank You
I love it when companies and brands are actually passionate about something and follow through with promises they made. I talked about them a few months ago (here), but Wahl Home Products is a company my husband and I actually use on a weekly basis and like. They’re a leading manufacturer of hair clippers, facial trimmers, and other personal care products. Not only that, but it’s family owned and everything is made in America. Love it!
When I wrote about them last time, it’s because they put a call out for pictures recognizing the men and women who ran the household while their spouse serves our country. Basically, they wanted us, as military spouses, to capture a special moment and submit it for a chance to win $1,000. I know several of you entered, so I wanted to let you know that Wahl and Military Spouse Magazine actually followed through and awarded a family the money. While there could only be one winner—sadly, it was not me—Wahl is back today to honor all the families who shared their heartfelt photos, and the many more who serve our country, with a special Veterans Day video, bringing those amazing images to life.

Their original campaign was called a “Picture is Worth $1,000” and I know firsthand how much we treasure those special moments. Sending our loved ones off for days, weeks, months, and even years at a time is TOUGH. It’s beyond difficult and it’s something you don’t really know how you’ll manage it…until you do. As a military spouse, we have so many lonely and hard days, but those special moments—the moments when you can breathe again after a deployment, knowing that your family is complete, or an every day moment that lets you stop, pause, and be grateful to have him home—those moments make it all worthwhile.
Do me a favor—tomorrow, on Veterans Day, hug a Vet. Or if you’re not the touchy-feely type, a smile with a quick nod will do. Let them know you appreciate all they’ve done, not just for our country, but for their loved ones back home who hold down the fort while they’re away.
Love the photo!!
