What’s Your Hobby?

Did you know that January is National Hobby Month? I wonder if that’s because people pick up new hobbies as resolutions? I know “learn how to crochet” has graced the top of my list for probably the last decade. I wish that was my hobby since I’m always a little envious of those who can just sit down and whip up a scarf or blanket.

As for my hobby? I feel like people don’t really want to hear what I’m about to say. And maybe more people are with me, but they just don’t admit it? In my spare time I like to hang out online. There, I said it. I feel like people expect you to do something other than “sit in front of a computer” as a past time. But I like it! I read blogs and catch up on world news, I browse for meal ideas and get inspiration for crafts; I can surf around and relax. I mean, it’s not like I can go surfing out here, so I’ve gotta take what I can get.

Of course, I do love to bake and cook, and I do those things often. I also like to read, but I usually do that while taking a bath. Is taking a bath a hobby? Photography is up there on the list, too, but I wish I had more time to devote learning that skill. The weather is also too crazy (snow one day, wild heat wave the next) out here to list “go on walks” or “hang out outside” as a hobby. And, now with my little girl, I’m not online as much as I used to be, so during my downtime, I’m online. Blogging is totally my hobby, and I love it.

I’d love to hear what your hobbies include. I asked my group of sponsors this month about what they like doing in their spare time. If you see someone with a similar interest, check them out and be their friend 🙂

Finding My Virginity

I just asked my boyfriend to write my bio for me, and he replied
with one word: perfect. So… that was a bust. But my blog does
chronicle our relationship, from our early dates to our first “I love
you” exchange, from skype dates to holidays together. Plus a LOT of
trips to the zoo! I’m not afraid to get personal on the blog when
describing even the most intimate details of our relationship. Aside
from all that, I also write book reviews, advocate for gender equality,
and promote positive body image. I can be complicated and challenging,
but I encourage y’all to give me a chance!

World Traveling Military Family
{twitter} {facebook} {instagram}
Hi I’m Mrs. B! I’m a military spouse who follows her active duty Air
Force husband all over the world; we’ve lived in many great places
(Alabama, Iceland, Japan, and currently Germany). We travel with our
three awesome kids and our westie. I blog about photography, being a
doula, crafting, DIY, cooking, recipes, traveling, pets, and much more! I
love being creative and making things, traveling to new locations,
meeting new friends along the way, and of course posting about all our
adventures! We just arrived to Germany last month and are trying to
settled and enjoy what Europe has to offer!

Hi! My name is Kathryn and I am a stay-at-home mom and Air Force wife. I
keep busy by taking care of my two kids—one of who has special needs,
and by blogging about faith, marriage, motherhood, military life, and
more. In my spare time I love hanging out with friends and going on date
nights with my husband!

Many Waters: Thoughts from Poekitten

Poekitten is a born and bred New Englander who has been transplanted to the Pacific Northwest thanks to her husband (and the Navy). She loves tea, other cultures, flip flops, warm weather and Puget Sound. Poe is a semi crunchy mama to an 18 month old little girl. She blogs about life so you’ll find posts about being a mom, her super cute daughter, recipes and the crafts she attempts.

I’m Jess, and I blog over at Being Mrs. Beer. I’m a working wife and
mom, trying to find the balance in it all…sometimes I do, and
sometimes I don’t! I love cooking, backing, DIY-ing when I can, and
writing about life and motherhood.

Hi! My name is Kim and I write over at She is Fierce! I’m a wife to a crazy, fitness loving soldier I call Dh. Together we have survived three tours to Afghanistan as well as all the rest that his 14 year military career has thrown our way. I’m a mom to 3 kids who are far more like me than I care to admit on a bad day, or take credit for on a good day. I’m a believer in Grace, a runner, a fighter, and a Starbucks addict who is currently not seeking treatment. I write about questions I am asked, about questions no one asked or wants to know the answer to, and mostly, just about life as us, a basic every day military family in Canada.

My
name is Kim, and I’m the editor of the blog, “A Moving Story”. I began
blogging about my expat experience, and ended up writing a lifestyle
blog about my passions: food, travel, and leading an inspired life.

Hi! I’m Kelsea! I’m a wife to my high-school sweetheart and a mom to my favorite boy in the world. I love snow days in, chai tea lattes, making lists, fresh flowers, cooking traditional foods, family and dinner parties. I blog about our life as a little family of three and all the things that inspire us from day to day.

  1. I would say that blogging is definitely my hobby, followed by home improvement/decorating. I used to sew a lot but ever since having children, I find it difficult to schedule time to 100% on sewing. You NEED to learn to crotchet! It is super easy and super fast so I don't get as frustrated with it as I do with knitting.

  2. I bought a hot yoga package for January, which also nicely coincided with my husband leaving for training. I have to say, I'm totally drinking the hot yoga kool-aid! I have no idea if I'll be able to keep it up (it's pretty expensive) but I'm loving the classes. I take 8pm classes on my way home from work and it's a better nightcap than a glass of wine! I can't believe I just said that….

  3. I've definitely picked scrapbooking up as a hobby once more thanks to Project Life. I would consider my hobbies to be: hiking, scrapping, blogging, and high stakes online bejeweled. Hahahaha- that last one is a joke (obviously).

  4. I never think of myself as having hobbies, but I guess blogging is a hobby, and I do spend more time online than watching tv. I love to read, but don't consider it a hobby. I also love to research the area we are living and then go visit all the weird, obscure places that most people don't take the time to see. Like what I posted on the blog today.

  5. My hobbies are anything crafty, my resolution is to expand and try more things. I cross stitch, embroider, crochet, and knit. Lately I've added quilting to that list and I really want to try my hand at weaving and needle felting!

  6. reading is for sure my #1 hobby, and lately I've added crafting but I'm still learning my way with the hot glue gun lol
