Thirty-nine weeks over here (well, 39+2 if you’re counting), and I figured I could start doing these on a weekly basis. I’m really, really, really curious how much longer I’ll be pregnant. I keep reminding myself that Julia stayed in until 41 weeks and even though she was a big baby, it was nice to have her fully and completely cooked. And as much as I’d love this little girl to be here already, I also keep reminding myself that I’m getting more sleep now than I will when she’s here. So, there’s that.
Still….
I can’t even tell you how much that is true.
I haven’t done a survey at all with this pregnancy, so I thought today would be a good day to fill one out. Because, why not?
How far along? 39 weeks and 2 days
How big is the baby? One app says the size of a watermelon and another says the size of a pumpkin.
Total weight gain/loss: I’m up 34 pounds, which is four more than I was when I gave birth with Julia.
Maternity clothes? No, I’m still wearing my skinny jeans. KIDDING. You know you’re almost done with your pregnancy when your maternity clothes start getting tight and uncomfortable. I’m busting out my maxi dresses since they’re pretty comfy these days. Basically, stick a fork in me, because I’m done.
Sleep: Some nights are better than others. On a good night I’m up three to four times to pee. I’m always tossing and turning, which, at this point, is more like a six-point turn with aches along the way. I get my best sleep during Julia’s nap time.
Best moment this week: Hanging out with Julia and my husband, just the three of us. I love our little family, so I’m soaking up time with just the three of us.
Movement: She moves a lot, but not as much as Julia did. I feel like Julia was constantly moving, and making gigantic punches and kicks all the time. This baby feels a lot more mellow.
Food Cravings: Spicy food. I’ve been in the mood for anything spicy lately.
Food Aversions: nothing
Gender: girl
Labor signs: sigh, nothing yet. At my last appointment I was 4 cm and 80%…but that doesn’t really mean anything. Two midwives both said they don’t think I’ll have to be induced (or will make it until 41 weeks like last time), but I don’t know. Contractions this time are minimal, and I’m still waiting for that lovely bloody show to arrive. Come on, baby!!!
Pregnancy Symptoms: I don’t even know how to answer this. I’m 9 months pregnant…everything is a symptom.
Belly button—in or out? in. always in.
What I miss: Oh my. Besides the obvious (sleeping on my back and stomach), I really miss bending, walking without hurting, having more energy, not getting winded when I do something, and just not being pregnant anymore. I also miss beer, wine, and margaritas.
What I’m looking forward to: meeting this little lady.
Upcoming appointment/events: Next appt. is this Friday (39+6) and then I think we’ll discuss induction (they’ll let me go until 42 weeks, but ahhhh that’s so far away). If I still have her by 40 weeks then I think they’ll do an NST the following week, just to check her out. Here’s hoping I go into labor this week! There’s a full moon on the 3rd (Tuesday), and I hear babies like to be born on full moons?!
Milestones: I’ve made it this far!
Dear PJ,
I’ve certainly loved our time together, but it’s time to head on out and experience this great big world! Everyone’s excited to meet you! I’m doing everything I can do over here, but I’m going to need your help with getting this party started. I’m curious if you’re just going to be stubborn like your sister and stay nice and comfy for as long as possible.
Your Papa has been absolutely wonderful during this pregnancy, so I really hope you’ll take it easy on him when he’s up at night trying to get you to simmer down. This may be our second time doing this, but it still feels like the first time all over again!
I’m running a bit low on energy and brain cells this morning, so this note will just have to be short and sweet. Basically, little buttercup, we’re ready to meet you…whenever you’re ready!
Love, love, love you,
Mama

You look great! I would never be able to tell how uncomfortable you are. So close!!!
Aw, you look so great! I remember being really irritated the last couple weeks I was pregnant with Millie because ALL of my shirts were too short! My belly was always sticking out! At 4cm I hope she decided to come soon! She might fall out. 😉 {You wish, right? HA!}
