Currently Having A Case of The Mondays

Is it just me or do the weekends go by a whole lot faster when you have kids? It’s like one minute we’re yelling, “YAY, it’s FRIDAY!” and dreaming of the weekend. Then we blink and it’s already Sunday night. It doesn’t help that we totally forgot to make coffee last night for this morning—we usually have it scheduled to brew so it’s ready for us when we get up. Hashtag fail. If only everyone could go into work late on Mondays. #CaseOfTheMondays

Anywho, today seems like a good day to update with what’s currently happening over here.

I’m currently…

baby tummy time
Listening to…
Maddie make friends with herself in the mirror. She’s giggling and cooing, and trying to touch the other baby in the mirror. Babies are so much fun!

Watching…
Food Network Star. I think we’ve watched all but one season, so this is definitely one of our favorite shows. I’m pulling for Dom and Rue, although I don’t know how far they’ll make it. We’re also a little addicted to HGTV over here; Chip and Jojo (Fixer Uppers) are just adorable and probably my favorite TV couple, and I’d act like a giddy schoolgirl if I ever met the Property Brothers.

adding chandelier to a room
Lighting up…
Our rooms. The girls’ room doesn’t have much light—natural or artificial—so we’ve been looking for a chandelier to put in there to brighten things up. We finally found one a couple weekends ago at a yard sale, and my husband hooked it all up this weekend. The amount of light in that room is now astonishing (and don’t mind the hole in the ceiling—it’s being patched up this week). We’re also making progress on our bathroom reno, and have part of the light fixture hung up; now it just needs a different light. We’re actually going to paint the tile and strip the popcorn ceiling this weekend. We’re really excited about how that room is coming along.

Eating…
Good food. I was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to cook like we used to with two kids, but I can…mostly. I tweak things and pick easier meals to prepare during the week, and then make more intense dishes when my husband is home on the weekends to help. We can’t get enough of this chicken dish, by the way—it’s so good.

Taking selfies…
With my daughter. Actually, she technically took these pictures since she clicked the button each time. We were killing time and having fun before swim class.

Swimming!
Last week Julia started swim lessons on base, and since she’s technically in the “baby” class (2 and under), a parent has to be in the pool with her. I’m loving our time together, and I’m especially loving being in the water. It’s a short class—just six times in the water—but it’s mostly to get her familiar with being in the water. Her favorite part is “jumping” into the pool and going down the slide, of course.

weight loss chart

Losing  More Weight!
Last Thursday—weigh-in day—I hit my first goal: I’ve lost 5% of my body weight. Woohoo! I’ve been at it for 9 weeks so far, and I’m averaging 1.5 lbs loss per week. I’m also just five(ish) pounds away from my first personal goal (aka: my pre-pregnancy weight). While I felt the healthiest when we did Paleo, this is working for me now, because it’s giving me the structure I need. My favorite part is that it accounts for the fact that I’m breastfeeding, so I get extra points every day.

Opening Up…
ADVERTISING
! Sorry for yelling, but I’m pretty excited to open this back up again. I closed up shop before I had the baby, because I didn’t want to take on more than I could chew, but I’m back now and really want to work with you. Details are on this page, and between now and July 1, get 20% off any add if you use the code: BANGBANG. You won’t see as many discounts like I did last time around, so take advantage of them when you see them!

Drinking Coffee…
I made a little moka pot before I started writing this, and now it’s ready. I no longer have a case of the Mondays since I now have coffee—all is right with the world.

Good morning, Monday

I hope you all have a great week that starts with a delicious cup of some sort of caffeine! Here’s to not having a case of the Mondays!

  1. I ended up with coffee grounds in mine this morning as I was not paying attention to what I was doing but I still managed to drink it and enjoy! I love though you have one of those little Italian ones, when I lived in the hostel you could always tell the Italians even if no one was talking as they would bring them on their trips!!

    1. Oh nooo, I hate when grounds get in the coffee, but at least you still enjoyed it! I love my little Italian maker! It was a little expensive and I was hesitant to buy it, but I’m glad I did. It’s perfect for the mornings that I don’t want to make a full pot of coffee!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! My little girl had zero hair up until her first birthday, and then it finally started growing in. I’m over the moon I can start putting it in pig tails 😀

  2. I completely relate to you about the weekends! You described it perfectly and I feel the same way. I love the chandelier that your husband put up in the girls bedroom. What are you doing to lose weight? Weight watchers? Great job, keep up the good work! – Lindsay at http://WWW.itssimplyLindsay.com

  3. Congratulations on your weight loss! I am also hooked on Next Food Network Star. Being a bit obsessed with cooking, this probably comes as no surprise, but I always enjoy seeing the challenges and all of the creative dishes they come up with. Boo for Mondays, but this post brightened mine up a bit, especially the selfies.

  4. I love Food Network Star too. I’m not sure who I want to win yet though. It is still a little early for me but noone is just jumping out at me as a winner.
Also love the chandelier. I need to look for one for my closet but with only an 8′ ceiling I need a pretty low profile one so hubby doesn’t bang it when getting dressed in there. LOL

  5. Just stopping by from Choose Happy Linkup! Coffee grounds: Yuck, I used to have a bunch when I had my old keurig, but now that I have my new one I don’t get anymore. I use my own coffee grounds because k cups can be expensive and this girl has to save money. Your selfies with your daughter are adorable, not to mention toddlers are obsessed with selfies…like they actually know what they are! What is this world coming to? lol. Congrats on loosing weight, it is such a incredible journey. I remember when I lost 40 lbs and what I difference I feel in my life. I still need to loose more, but right now I am focusing on keeping up on all my hard work. Thanks for sharing, looks like you are having a great summer so far.

  6. Congrats on the weight loss and to healthy eating. I just recently joined WW and I have to admit…its hard at times. What advice do you have? Found you over at the Currently linkup.

    1. Thanks! I’ve found that meal planning is the only way to help me stay on track. The other really big thing is that if I mess up for one meal (or a day), that I really try to get back on track the next time I can. Good luck in your weight-loss journy!

  7. the photo of your baby with the mirror is sooo precious!!!
WAY to go on your weight loss!! High five!!!!

Thank you for joining my Currently Link Up this week! I love hearing what everyone is up to. Have a safe & happy 4th of July! XOXO Becky
