A Few of My Favorite Things (v.2)
I had every intention on sharing this last week, but then my husband had the 3rd off for the 4th, and blogging was the last thing on my mind. What was on my mind was working on our bathroom reno! We’re knee-deep in completing that project, and I may have a “during” post for you soon!
I had so much fun with my last round of my favorite Things, that I had to come back and share more stuff I’m loving.
Things I’m Loving:
+ I feel like this shirt and this mug are calling my name. They’re seriously speaking to my mama heart, and I want both of them really, really bad. Part of me wants to hold out and put them on my Christmas list, and the other part just wants them both rightthisveryminute. What to do, what to do?
+ Have you seen this post about what real women look like wearing Victoria’s Secret swimsuits? I laughed so hard at a few of them (their comments, not the women wearing the suits), that I almost peed my pants.
+ Selfies with my girl. She went through a phase where she didn’t want me to take her picture at all, but now she’s starting to cheese it up for the camera. Granted, her “cheese” face looks like she’s sometimes trying to push out a poop, but whatever. I like these moments with her.
+ I don’t use bobby-pins too often, but when I do I have to search alllll over for one little pin. This quick DIY could come in seriously handy.
+ Three-day weekends. I mean, can I get an “Amen”?
+ My husband. He came down with a case of pink eye and has a sore throat, but despite all that, he’s currently locked inside our bathroom painting our tile. Yup, the tile. Post to come soon about that exciting project!
Tried and True (Products I’m Digging):
Warby Parker
Oh, how I love thee. I’ve raved about this company before, but I’m back again, this time because my glasses came in and I love them! I ended up getting the Wilkie design in Greystone and they’re absolutely perfect. As with any new prescription, it took a couple of days for my eyes to get used to the new RX, but when they did it was like seeing through—well—a brand new lens.
I actually just ordered some sunglasses to try on, so that I can wear them while we go on road trips. I’m secretly hoping that this pair will be the winner.
In case you’re knew to WP, here’s the lowdown: you can try on FIVE pairs of glasses/sunglasses for free for five days. They’ll mail them out to you, then you mail them back, just like that. Then, if you end up buying a pair (only $95 and they do take some insurance), they give a pair of glasses to someone in need. See why I love them so much?
Bebe au Lait Muslin Blanket
If you’re new to the baby world, let me sing the praises of a fabric called “muslin.” It’s just about the softest material you can use for your baby, and the cool thing is that it gets softer and more lovely with time. Now, I’ve been all over a particular trendy company when it comes to muslin swaddles and blankets, but I recently discovered that BeBe au Lait has some muslin products, too.
I have their muslin nursing cover (a must-have if you want to use a cover, because it’s super breathable), muslin swaddles, and their muslin blanket. I need to tell you about the blanket, because it’s just dreamy—it’s thick and large, and as a reversible print on it. The best part is that, because of the muslin material, even though it’s thick it can be both warm and cool at the same time…does that make sense? Basically, what you need to take away from this is that it’s the perfect baby blanket (besides the one grandma made, of course).
Motherlove Diaper Rash
The little one had a pretty wicked diaper rash last week. She’s usually a really happy baby, but the rash was making her extremely grumpy—as in, she cried (wailed) all the time. I tried everything, butt paste, A&D, cornstarch, etc., but nothing was working on her little bum. Then I remembered Motherlove’s Diaper Rash and I tore the house apart looking for the little jar I used on Julia. She only got diaper rash a handful of times, but this stuff cleared it up practically overnight. Of course, I didn’t have any, so I quickly ordered some from Amazon and started making phone calls to see if I could buy some that afternoon locally.
Get this: there’s only one place within 100 miles of here that sells it…and they were out. I almost cried when he told me that, because I didn’t want her to suffer through the weekend, but he must’ve heard my disappointment, because he offered me some samples they sent him. That man was a serious angel, because after putting it on her just a few times, she woke up the next morning and it was significantly better. I need to add this to my newborn must-have posts (see them here and here), because every mom needs this in her arsenal of baby tricks.
Birks
So, if you’ve been around here for a while, you may remember a post I wrote about the most comfortable sandals ever. Since that post I’ve own two pairs (bought another one last summer), and I still love them, but I wanted something a little more girly and stylish. The problem is that two pregnancies later, my huge feet are now just ginormous, so finding shoes is nearly impossible. Enter Birkenstocks. I don’t know why I’ve never tried them before, but Oh-Em-Gee, these are SO comfortable! I went for a size up, and every time I slip my feet in them I get even happier that I bought them. I have the Mayari in Black Licorice. Best shoe ever!
In Case You Missed It:
+ I finally shared what our laundry room makeover looks like.
+ Oh, and here’s our walk-in pantry, too.
+ Did you know there’s a Stitch-Fix-like company for sizes 10 and up? Yup! And I tried it out here.+ If you have a little girl in your life, then you need to look at this post.

I am not usually a sandal person but I have been feeling like my feet want to be free and those are so cute!
Oh man, I can’t even remember the last time I wore closed-toed shoes! Being pregnant during the winter had me wearing sandals all year long! These are super comfy and have such a great reputation, so if you get a pair, you can’t go wrong!
I loved this post. As far as that mug is concerned, why don’t you make one? Sharpie mug DIY- search on Pinterest, plus it would make a great post. I also love Warby Parker- you should post a pic of you in the glasses! I actually have the same pair and am contemplating a new pair as well. My laundry room is a complete disaster, but I’m finding inspiration with your lovely makeover!

If only I had decent handwriting, then I’d totally make that mug! I’ll have to post a picture of my new sunglasses since I’m so indecisive!
I got my first pair of glasses online a few months ago. I was so scared, but it ended up working out totally fine. I feel like a fashion failure. I need some birks!
haha well, from one fashion failure to another, go get yourself some comfy sandals!
So much fun stuff in here! The VS swimsuit post was absolutely my favorite. Their comments cracked me up, especially the parts about not knowing how the models got their arms to do such crazy things. Also, thanks for introducing me to muslin! I’d heard of before but I had no idea how wonderful it was.
Lol glad I could bring a little humor to your Monday 🙂 And yes, muslin is divine!
Great post! I seriously need that T-shirt. I was really inspired after reading that buzzfeed article too. Cute clicks of your daughter. This is such a perfect post! 🙂
Thank you so much!
Yay for three day weekends! Boo for your hubby getting sick! My 3 year old daughter is in a stage where she loves to ham it up for the camera too, it’s so funny. 🙂
And yes, muslin swaddling blankets are the bomb!
those birks and your hello rug- swoon, also Warby Parker sounds AMAZING!
Your two girls are adorable! My husband loves that geometry onesie!
I totally need that shirt & mug! I have a handful of muslin swaddle blankets for my daughter’s & I love them.
I don’t want to take away from your post but I read the VS models in really life one and I actually thought that they all did a good job picking suites that were appropriate for their body shape and that most of them looked really good. I got a little confused reading their comments because I thought they should all be proud of how great they look and that they were rocking it. I don’t know, maybe I’m getting way to into this, don’t care what you look like and be the fun mom thing.
Loved the rest of your post too!
Oh, I think they all looked wonderful in their swimsuits, and it made me actually consider looking at VS in the future! I think the take-away (the funny parts) were when they talked about how silly it was to actually model in them since the water was freezing, and they had to get into awkward poses.
Oh. My. Gosh. Julia’s faces. Abbie takes selfies too… except she doesn’t make any faces. It’s ridiculous. And I remember LOVING those motherlove products too, but now I make my own diaper cream…which I really should blog about. so many ideas, so little time.
Hey Jessica! I stumbled across your blog while creeping around on Twitter… really beautiful! I also have to second your enthusiasm for Warby Parker; I love LOVE their styles and the ease of trying on before purchase. AMAZING.
Anyway, just wanted to say Hey! And that you’re blog is super cute and fresh. Looks like you’re well!

Also, OH MY GOD I HATE when “you’re” comes out of my fingertips instead of “your”. Geez louise I should know better.
So much awesomeness in this post. Love that cheese-face! And yay for three day weekends and new shades!
The Victoria’s Secret post is HILARIOUS! I don’t fit into their bras, so I doubt I would fit into their bathing suits.
Your girls continue to be adorable, as always.
