‘Tis the season for pie, y’all! Few things make me happier than pieāspecifically, apple pie. It’s always been my absolute favorite (ask anyone in my family), but we don’t have it in the house often, because I’d just want to eat the entire thing. Obviously. That’s one reason why I’m totally smitten over this latest creation: an effortless mini caramel apple pie; it’s a tiny, somewhat good-for-you personal pie, and it packs a lot of flavor.
I love the tartness you get from the yogurt, the sweetness from the caramel, the crunch from the fresh apples, and of course, the cookie-like graham cracker crust. Plus, mini-versions of things are always better. You don’t have to worry about sharing or double dipping, and you definitely don’t have to worry about as many calories. That’s a win in my book!
I found all the ingredients you need to make this at my local Walmart. The KeeblerĀ® Ready CrustĀ® Mini Graham Cracker Pie Crust was sitting in the baking aisle, I picked up the Reddi-wipĀ® and DannonĀ® Light & FitĀ® Caramel Apple Pie Yogurt in the dairy section, the caramel in a squeeze bottle (for perfect drizzling) was in the coffee section (of all places), and I grabbed a fresh apple from the produce section.
Before I dive into how you can make your own little fall treat, I have to mention how easy they are to make. Seriously, theyāre so easy a toddler can do it (or at least help you with it).
My niece and nephew came over one day, so while the adults were making dinner, I put the kids to work making the dessert. Truth be told, this is probably a better activity for the three-and-older crowd, but at two and a half, Julia and her cousin, Hannah, kept up with Isaiah just fine. (Granted, we definitely made sure to note each kid’s pie since little fingers found their way into their pie fillings.)
Also, as a mom with a picky little girl to feed, I truly appreciate that the filling is actually made with Greek yogurt (sshhh, don’t tell!), because it provides great calcium and protein. Plus it has real apples for an additional crunch. Who says desserts can’t be healthy?
I think these mini caramel apple pies are excellent as an easy snack that the whole family can enjoy, or even the perfect date-night dessert. Or, go one step further and have a create-your-own pie night with friends! Actually, I may have whipped one together and eaten it right before bed one nightāmidnight snack anyone?!
[yumprint-recipe id=’4′] Delicious, right? I think everything should be served in mini versions, especially if they’re easy to make, taste good, and are good for you. Also, I’m pretty sure this is a perfect way to get away with eating pie for breakfast. I mean, it’s yogurt and apples! I’m sold.
