Valentine Gifts That Don’t Suck

Giving flowers and chocolate for Valentine’s Day is so yesterday. Skip the traditional, old-fashioned gifts this year, and get your special someone something they’ll really enjoy. I teamed up with UncommonGoods to share some unique gift ideas for Valentine’s Day that will spark a fire under your loved one’s belt (if you know what I mean *wink wink*). Don’t worry…they’re all PG!

I’ve been a fan of UncommonGoods for years—going back to at least when I was in college and I wanted to give something other than a gift card for birthdays. Every time I’d look on their site they’d have something that would catch my eye, and I wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. Plus, I love their business model: half of what they sell is handmade, 1/3 of their products are from up-cycled or recycled materials, and their lowest paid workers are paid 50% above minimum wage.  All good things from this company.

With that said, get your Pinterest-saving button handy, and be sure to send your husband this post so he can (hint, hint) get you what you want this year!

For the Lady of the House:

Give your wife a gift that’s something fun and different for Valentine’s Day this year. I know I said it’s a no-no to give flowers, but this Mason Jar Indoor Flower Garden will bloom year-round, which can’t be said for the dozen roses that will find their way to the trash can a week later. And if she’s a lady who has a hard time making decisions (aren’t we all?), then the Merlot Infused Coffee is basically the best of both worlds…and the perfect way to say, “I love you.” Can’t seem to find your love off her phone? How about getting her this Smartphone Instant Photo Lab so she can print her own Polaroid-like pictures straight from her phone.

For the One Who Likes A Little Bling

Listen up, men: you pretty much can’t go wrong with gifting your lady a piece of jewelry. Of course, it helps to know her style, but even then, it’s the thought that counts. The minute I saw the Links of Love Necklace, I heard my heart make little pitter-patters; it’s so simple, yet stunning. Speaking of stunning—literally give her a piece of a heart with these gorgeous Mini Gold Dipped Lace Heart Earrings. And in case she needs a place to store all of her new bling (and the pieces you’ve already hopefully given her), this Wire Sculpture Jewelry Tree is the perfect home for her jewelry.

For the Manly Man

Ladies, I have you covered in case you need something for your man. Help him spruce up the place (and himself) with his very own Working Mans Hygeine Kit. Beer Making Kits are everywhere these days, so kick it up a notch with a Homemade Gin Kit, and let him wow his friends (or his own taste buds) the next time 5’oh clock rolls around. If the love in your life is a bit on the nerdy side, he may appreciate sporting this Math Formulas Tie the next time he has to dress up.

For the Mr. and Mrs.

Want to get something you can both enjoy? Have no fear; I have that covered! This Anniversary Journal is such a clever way to cherish those memories for years to come. If you and your beau are from two different place (literally), this Love Will Find A Way Personalized Art piece will be a charming way to spruce up your home together. Love can be hard, even when you’re not on the rocks, so take it back to the beginning and remember why you fell in love in the first place with this fun and thoughtful book, What I Love About You by Me.

For the Couple who Travels Together

Y’all know we like to travel, so I can’t help but include some fun ideas for fellow travel junkies! I so  wish I bought this Travel Stub Diary for us when we first got married; it’d be so fun to flip through and see the places we visited. This Travel Cord Roll is admittedly a little more on the practical side of things, but I love how it keeps alllllll of the electronic pieces together in one place; genius. I can’t get over how cool I think this Scratch-Off Map is! If you know a couple who travels around the world—or has dreams to cross places off their bucket list, then this is a must-have.

Have you started thinking about a Valentine’s gift for the special person in your life? Which of these would you love to get?
